Sport: Hockey - Year 10
Date: 30th November 2009
Cowbridge Yr 10 hockey team played Llantwit Major Yr 10/11 team. It was the first match Llantwit have played in nearly 2 years and it was evident they had been training hard this season and made an impact in Cowbridge’s performance with some great defensive work; in particular the goal keeper. Rachel Bradshaw once again proved to be the most skilful player on the pitch scoring Cowbridge’s two goals and gaining the honour of player of the match. Beatrice Hawker and Lucie Johnson played their first hockey matches for Cowbridge and performed well. The final score was 2-1 to Cowbridge.
Player of the match was Rachel Bradshaw

Sport: Rugby - Year 7
Date: 3rd December 2009
Year 7 played away to Llantwit on a cold evening with strong winds, but still kept faith in their handling skills to outscore their opponents by 8 tries to nil. The score does not reflect the amount of work the Cowbridge pack led by Joe Davies did in providing quality and quick ball for the backs to use wide out. The Llantwit boys tackled all the way through the game and were unlucky not to score at the end.

Sport: Netball - Year 7A and B
Date: 30th November 2009
Year 7 Continue With Their Winning Ways
The year 7 A and B teams played St. Richard Gwyn on Monday 30 th November. The A’s began strongly, with Emily Davies gaining the first goal for Cowbridge. This was quickly followed by a goal from St. Richard Gwyn. Realising the competition, the Cowbridge girls lifted the tempo of their game and began to pull away with a 5-2 lead at half time. In the second half, Ellie Eddie-Williams came on as wing defence for her first school netball match and made some excellent interceptions to support Caitlin Jones at wing defence and Rebecca Thomas at goal keeper who collectively prevented St. Richard Gwyn from scoring in the 2 nd half. Excellent attacking play between Hannah Lister-Sims and Ellie Davies ensured the ball was freed accurately into the shooters zone and the game ended 8-2 with a win for Cowbridge.
Player of the match: Kim Jerwood, Goal Attack
The B team got off to another flying start. Great linking play between Laurie Thomas at goal shooter and Jo Hannaby at goal attack gave the girls a solid 5-1 lead by half time. Tilly Hall, Madeleine Reed, Nia Wornham-Price, Lilli Morris and Jasmine Evans all played their first school netball match and contributed towards a fantastic team performance which saw the final score finish 10-2 to Cowbridge.
Well done to all the girls.
