The Transformation Continues
15 July 2009

As this school year draws to a close, the contractors continue to make rapid progress. The School Redevelopment project is on time and on budget! The new building is taking shape and on the north side, the steel work to the upper ground and first floor clearly delineates the outline and configuration of the classrooms.

Refurbishment work is well under way in the former Admin block and in Block M and Art.

When we return to school in September, the car and bus parking area will be completed at the north end of the site as will the new, main entrance to the School. All vehicles visiting the Middle School including school buses and any parents bringing children to school will need to use this entrance. The former main entrance to the school will be for construction traffic only.

A temporary canteen and dining room will be in place in the current bus parking area outside Middle School which will consequently be open to pedestrians only.

The ICT suites containing all new computers will be completed and ready for use and the first floor of the M Block will be fully refurbished. The new school canteen – large enough to accommodate the needs of the whole school when on one site, will be completed and ready for use by the second half of the Autumn term.

As elements of work are completed and sections of the school handed back to us, we should begin to feel more comfortable. I am immensely grateful to all my colleagues who continue to work very hard to ensure that the delivery of the curriculum is uninterrupted, and to our students who are demonstrating common sense and great forbearance as their access to the site is diminished.

Finally may I thank you for your continued support at this challenging but very exciting time and wish you an enjoyable summer break.
