Harry & Freddy are the heroes!
Year 9 cricket team are into the County Final after an outstanding performance from Harry Byes and Freddy Wides.
With captain Dan Peters electing to bat against a strong Fitzalan team, Cowbridge got off to a poor start with the early wickets of Dan Peters and Jack Davies falling for only 3 runs. Harry Collier steadied the run rate with a creditable 18. Chris Brace hit some excellent boundaries for a quick 22 and both George Brown and Mike Barrett pushed into double figures. The side finished on a decent score of 131 for 8 but with the very small boundary this was not an impossible task for Fitzalan. The home team started strongly with opening bat Ammed reaching 30 with a series of quick boundaries. Peters and Davies were very tight as they opened the bowling for Cowbridge but it was Chris Brace who turned up the pressure on the Fitzalan batting attack with some quality pace bowling. Fitzalan looked to be in the lead and with 2 overs remaining they only needed 12 runs. However, Peters and Davies bowled brilliantly to claim 3 wickets for only 9 runs in the last 2 overs.
Well played boys and a special thank you to Alex Scott Coombes and Matt Williams for joining the team late.
