Hockey

Cardiff and Vale Tournament

The Year 10 hockey team played in their preliminary Cardiff and the Vale tournament on a very wet afternoon at Talybont. The team have not played or practised for a long time together due to the schools hockey pitch being used as part of the new school build plus all the rain and snow. However, this did not show in any of their 3 games. First up was Howells where Katie Howson got straight into the game scoring very early on. Molly Llewellyn who started playing hockey at Bridgend this year has improved her skills immensely and scored 2 goals against Howells. Katie Howson scored another to make it 4-0.

The next game was up against St Teilos where Katie Howson scored another 2 goals, Molly Llewellyn scored twice and Year 9 pupil Romy Killick got her first goal for the Year 10 team. The final result was 5-0.

In the final game against St Cyres, Katie Bradbury got her first goal of the tournament. Katie Howson scored twice again and Molly Llewellyn got her first hatrick, making the final score 6-0.

Apart from the goal scorers, there was excellent play from Year 9 pupil Rachel Bradshaw, who played well with Katie Howson. Also in defence Bethan Moorcraft had another solid game and Sophie Dando also played well.

Well done to all the squad and good luck for the county finals.

Football

Quarter Final: Cardiff and Vale Schools Cup, Cowbridge Year 7 v Llantwit Major

After a very poor first half where Cowbridge struggled against Llantwit to go 4-0 down at half time, the second half was a very different performance with Cowbridge creating numerous chances and eventually losing 4-3. Goals scored by Brad Rosser (2) and Joshua Thomas. Goalkeeper Sean Rowland deserves a mention for saving six clear chances in the first half.
