On the 8th April, our Yr8 science team attended the Salters Festival of chemistry at Cardiff University. The team comprised of; Conner McGovern, Timothy Pickin, Jamie Coombes and Matthew Williams, who took part in several practical tasks along with fourteen other schools throughout South Wales. The tasks involved, solving a theft where they were asked to carry out a series of flame tests and in the afternoon to build a chemical clock from a chemical solution. The latter experiment proved very fruitful for Cowbridge as they were judged to have built the most accurate clock beating all fourteen schools that attended including the likes of Ochlfa and Stanwell! The prize awarded was a cash sum of £100 for our science club and all pupils received certificates for their participation. All pupils thoroughly enjoyed the day. Congratulations to all!
