French Exchange 2006
17 January 2006

On Thursday 7th December, we welcomed another group of French students from our exchange school in Reze near Nantes. All students were placed with pupils from Cowbridge. They in turn visit Reze in June 2007.

Friday 8th December was a day getting to know each other and the school. Mr Ling and Mr Fowles welcomed the students in a ‘Pot D’accueil’ held in the Dining Hall.

The group were split into two groups during the afternoon – one half made key rings with Mr Norling, whilst the other half enjoyed making fairy cakes with Mrs Mallows. This proved to be an excellent experience for our guests.

Over the weekend the students spent time with their host families. Everyone was invited to a disco on Saturday night.

Monday 11th we went down the mines – spending an enjoyable day at the World Heritage Site at The Big Pit Mining Museum, Blaenavon. On Tuesday 12th December both sets of students enjoyed a day in Cardiff Castle and the Millennium Stadium.

Wednesday 13th December was their last day with us in Wales. The French students enjoyed a day experiencing Welsh culture in St Fagans Museum of Welsh Life. Whilst at St. Fagans they were lucky enough to see a new episode of Dr Who being filmed. Techniquest was on the list before returning back to enjoy their last evening with their host family.
