| Awesome Auction! |
| 17 November 2006 |
The School was delighted to hold an auction on 2nd November to raise money for the charities it’s supporting this year.
The Bear hotel very kindly gave us their beautiful St. Quentin Suite for the occasion and many local shops, businesses and members of the community showed their immense generosity by donating items.
Despite a slightly disappointing turnout, the auction itself was great fun! Phil and Matthew from Herbert R. Thomas, who had also given their time for the occasion, took us through with pace, flair and lots of humour! Thanks, guys, we loved you.
By the end of the evening, all of the lots had gone – some making fantastic bargains for the lucky bidders – and we raised a grand total of £1,582.52. Not bad for a night’s work!
Only it wasn’t just one night’s work – lots of people behind the scenes put tremendous effort into ensuring that the auction was a success. I would like to thank Carla Cavalli, Dai Griffiths, James Thomas, Jocelyn Bisson, Mr Carnall and his boys – but most especially Hannah Mitchell who has the tenacity of a bulldog and worked tirelessly on the project. Thank you!
The good news is that we had such an overwhelming response from generous donors that we have many items that we couldn’t squeeze into the auction. These will be posted on the School’s web site and we welcome bids from parents, pupils, staff and members of the community. Simply write your name, contact number, item number and the minimum and maximum bid you are willing to pay on a piece of paper and send it in to Kirsten Wilcock at Cowbridge School by 15th December.
Make sure you get these bargains early and look out for the auction again next year – we want you there!
