Congratulations to……

Simon Cassidy

Congratulations to Simon Cassidy 09/2000 - 07/2007 who gained a First Class Honours Degree in Chemistry from St Catherine's College, Oxford. Simon was in receipt of a scholorship during his time at Oxford in recognition of his academic achievement.

Tom Williams

After finishing his A levels in 2010 Tom went to Cardiff University to read for a degree in Geology. He has been awarded a prestigious University Scholarship (worth £3,000 towards his fees) in recognition of the high grade he acheived in his Geology A level and his potential in the subject. Congratulations on this excellent acheivement!

Elliott Swallow and Lauren Brown

Elliott Swallow, a student who finished his Geology A-level in 2009, has been awarded the prestigious (and valuable) Shell Scholarship to study Earth Sciences at Leeds University.  Elliott is the second student from Cowbridge to be awarded the Scholarship; Lauren Brown (now in her second year at Leeds) won the award last year.  She is about to spend a year studying Geology at the Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand) as part of her course.

Cheryl Emett (Sept 96 – July 03)

Cheryl has been awarded a First Class Honours MSci degree in Geoscience, including a year of international study, by the University of London.

Hannah O’ Donnell (Nee Davies) Headgirl (1997-8)

Currently works for Cancer Research UK (post doing degree in Psychology/French at Exeter – 4 years) as one of the Race Organisers for the Race for Life events, covering Devon and Cornwall (formerly worked in London for them for their International Challenges team supporting volunteers and raising vital money for the charity).

Hannah worked for the CR-UK in fundraising and events since 2004 (formerly for another charity working for ex-servicemen suffering from PTSD, in fundraising, marketing and events).

 

Ailsa Wallace (Sept 88 - July 95)

On June 9th 2007 Ailsa was awarded both her Masters and Doctorate Degrees from Jesus College, Oxford. Her Masters degree was awarded for European Literature and her DPhil for her work on “Hermynia Zur Můhlen: The Guises of Socialist Fiction.”

After leaving Cowbridge, Ailsa studied at Cardiff University, Universität Hamburg and of course, Oxford where she also gained 5 “blues” for Athletics. She continues to compete at international level in the high jump.
