The head of Maths is Mrs. S Morgan and the year 7 co-ordinator is Mrs E Brown. The six other members of the department may also teach year 7 pupils.

The rooms where mathematics is taught are usually L8 and L9, but sometimes non-mathematics rooms are used.

We run a two week timetable and you will have 3 one hour lessons in week 1 and the same in week 2. Every other half term you will also have ‘Successmaker’ lessons, a personal computerised learning programme, where your mathematical skills will be monitored. You will be taught in your registration forms, which are usually made up of pupils from similar schools.

A Maths club runs once a week in the computer room, where you will be able to solve problems and puzzles. There is also a puzzle of the week, which can be found on our web pages. You can earn merits and house points when you return an entry. There are other quizzes and puzzles throughout the year where you can win prizes. We also hold Math Challenges, 24-game knockouts, maths treasure hunts and Rush Hour competitions.

Calculators are used occasionally.
