About Us

The school is able to trace its roots back to 1608 and we are proud of our history and reputation for excellence.

The redevelopment of the school and its site was completed in 2010 and has provided our students with a truly 21st Century learning environment where each young person is challenged, nurtured and supported to reach their full potential.

Cowbridge Comprehensive is a popular and very successful co-educational state secondary school situated in the market town of Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan.

The school serves a large rural area. It has ten established feeder primary schools, from which the majority of pupils at the school have transferred.

About 1000 pupils between the ages of 11 and 16 study at the school for their GCSE and vocational qualifications, with more than 300 students in the Sixth Form studying for AS and A2 Level examinations and the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification.

The great majority of our students go on to University, some after a gap year. We usually send several students to Oxbridge colleges annually.

The school offers a rich extra curricular programme which includes opportunities to participate in sport, creative and performing arts and to experience outdoor learning, both at home and abroad.

CCTV camera use and operation

The school has 40 CCTV cameras located internally and externally for the safety and security of pupils, staff and visitors / community users. The locations of cameras are cleary visible and notices advise pupils, staff and visitors / community users that they are in operation 24 hours a day.
